There are many variations for scoring the game, but the basic rules are all the same. At the beginning of your turn, you shake and roll six dice. If one or more dice will give you points, you can choose to keep them and roll any remaining dice, or you can "bank" the points and end your turn. If you roll the dice again and don't get any scoring dice on the re-roll, you have "farkled" and you lose any points for the round.

If on the re-roll all the dice end up scoring, you have "hot dice" and can roll all the dice again. The first player who reaches the game's target score by banking enough points is the winner.
